This symposium aims to examine the concept of systemic discrimination as a category of analysis that helps us understand the mechanisms and dynamics through which inequalities in treatment are reproduced and reinforced within institutions and social structures. Beyond examining individual or intentional discrimination, the aim is to understand how norms, practices, systems, and rationales can have discriminatory effects, even unintentionally, in various sectors, including health, higher education, housing, and employment.

This symposium is organized as part of the Horizon Europe UNDETERRED (2023-2027) project and focuses on systemic discrimination experienced by migrant and national minorities. We also invite dialogue with researchers and practitioners from different disciplines, perspectives, and approaches on issues and challenges related to the broad field of discrimination, from a critical perspective on systemic inequalities. to research on systemic inequalities. Contributions addressing systemic inequalities experienced by other populations (such as gender minorities, people with disabilities, etc.) are equally encouraged.
